Melissa and Jacob met in the Summer of 2019 at a club in New York City. Jacob was living and working in NYC for the summer with his Michigan State friends. Melissa’s friend (hey Sara) invited Melissa and her high school friends to go out with her college friends. Melissa and Jacob met that night at Slate NYC, and immediately hit it off.

Throughout the summer, Melissa and Jacob spent more time together, quickly discovering shared interests and a natural chemistry. But as the season came to a close, life pulled them in different directions—Jacob returned to Chicago, and Melissa headed back to finish her senior year at the University of Rhode Island.

Fast forward to June 12, 2022: Jacob reached out to Melissa, rekindling their connection. From there, everything fell into place. Two years of long-distance love followed, filled with nightly FaceTime calls and monthly trips between NYC and Chicago. Eventually, Melissa made the big move to the Windy City to start a new chapter with Jacob.

On May 31, 2025, Jacob proposed to Melissa at the stunning Honeycomb in Chicago’s Lincoln Park—she said yes! Now, they can’t wait to celebrate this exciting new chapter with all of their favorite people.
